Glo’s new tariff plan, Berekete, offers more voice, data values

 Glo Berekete, a new tariff plan introduced by national telecommunications operator, Globacom, is offering more voice and data benefits to millions of subscribers. The product name, which in local parlance means “abundance”, underscores the immense value which Glo subscribers will get every time they recharge their lines with a minimum of N100. Globacom said at the formal launch of Berekete in Lagos on Tuesday that the tariff plan is for both new and existing customers, adding that it takes care of their browsing and talking needs from the same recharge. “At Globacom, we are continually seeking new ways to add value to the lives of our esteemed customers. This is one of such ways, and we can assure our customers that we will not relent. Our pledge is that we will continue to meet and exceed their expectations,” the company said. Mali: ECOWAS lifts sanctions, gives reasons

 The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has lifted the sanction imposed on Mali following the removal of President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita in August. DAILY POST reported on Tuesday that Mali president, Ibrahim Boubacar and Prime Minister Boubou Cisse were arrested by Malian soldiers. Rebel soldiers rounded up senior government and military officers in Kati town and elsewhere. Following the development, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) suspended Mali membership. However, in a statement released on Tuesday, ECOWAS said heads of state have decided to lift the sanction. “Heads of state and government have decided to lift sanctions” in order to “support” the handover to civilian rule,” the statement said. It also noted the publication of a transition roadmap and the status allotted to the military leader in the interim government. KING ASA

Ondo 2020 governorship poll will be my last election – Akeredolu

 The Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has claimed that the October 10 governorship poll, will be the last he will contest in the state. Akeredolu stated this on Tuesday while addressing the National Peace Committee and his opponents. At the event, the Governor and all the other candidates signed a peace accord, pledging a violence-free election. “This won’t be our first election, at least for me. This will be the third time around that I will be contesting in the state. And this will be the third and last time that I will be contesting an election in Ondo State.  We went through elections in the last two occasions, all of us operating as brothers. I cannot recollect any violence in those two elections. But if we have one or two issues here and there, it is not to say that Ondo people are violent. Ondo State people, maybe learning from experience, have refused to be involved in violence. Elections here have always been peaceful. KING ASA

Ondo missing child: Sotitobire founder Prophet Alfa, 5 others get life imprisonment

  The Founder of the Sotitobire Praising Chapel, Prophet Babatunde Alfa has been sentenced to life imprisonment after he was found guilty by a High Court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital over the mysterious disappearance of a child from his church. Prophet Alfa was found guilty on a two-count charge of conspiracy as well as aiding and abetting kidnapping. According to the presiding Judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola, the Prosecution Counsel proved beyond reasonable doubt as regards Justice Odusola also accused the police of complicity in the entire episode. The Prophet and the other defendants had been on trial for months after one-year-old Kolawole Gold disappeared mysteriously from the church’s children’s department during a Sunday service on November 10, 2019. Prophet Alfa who is the founder of the church, located at Oshinle quarters area of Akure was accused by the parents of the missing child over the mysterious disappearance of their son who has not been seen till date. ...

  Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday, admitted that millions of Nigerians are living below the poverty line. Osinbajo lamented that the COVID-19 pandemic had further worsened the unemployment and poverty rate in the country. The Vice President disclosed this after several sessions at the two-day retreat, which reviewed the challenges of the relationship and interdependence between the executive and legislative arms of government. He, however, urged the executive and legislatures to work together in addressing the challenges confronting Nigerians.
