Anguish, chaos, gridlock over int’l flight relocation.   International travellers, airlines will in the coming days experience pains, gridlock along with discomfort while embarking on their travels both outbound and inbound. This is coming at the heel of the relocation of international airlines and travellers to the new international airport, terminal two, in Lagos. It would be recalled that the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, last month, directed all international airlines to vacate the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, from October 1, 2023. Keyamo notified the airlines to commence immediate action of the relocation of their tickets sales offices to the new terminal two constructed by the Chinese consortium for the commencement of renovation work at the MMIA. Lagos retirees get N2bn.

Lagos retirees get N2bn.  Lagos State Government has disbursed N2.017 billion as retirement benefits to 644 retirees. The payment was made at the 101st batch Retirement Bond Certificate presentation for retirees, held in Alausa. Ikeja. Speaking at the event, Director-General, Lagos State Pension Commission, LASPEC, Mr Babalola Obilana, said the payment represented the retirees’ past service benefits prior to the NBN commencement of the Contributory Pension Scheme, CPS, in 2007. Obilana noted that the event was organised to celebrate a significant milestone and exceptional retirees who had dedicated their time, energy and talents to the service of Lagos State. High cost of plastic plates: Gatecrashers’re now served in cellophane bags at ‘owambes’.  Two sets of people are always present in a typical Nigerian party, known in local Yoruba parlance as owambe. They are the invited guests and uninvited ones popularly known as gate crashers. While the invited guests come with pride to show off elegance, luxury and perhaps modern dance steps, the gate crashers mainly come for food. Ordinarily, the way a guest is served speaks volumes in such parties.  For invited guests, hosts prepare and serve various delicacies in beautiful dishes and plastic takeaway packs on decorated tables.  Some guests are even allowed to make orders for whatever meals they desire without stepping out of their seats.
